24 / Canadian Government Executive // March/April 2018 Smart Cities Transforming a Culture W ith so many advances in technol- ogy, it seems that conversations about transformation are cen- tred around the opportunities of disruptive technologies such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, automation, big data and blockchain. While technology is a force in organizational transformation, I believe there’s another conversation to have that’s less shiny, less cutting-edge, but presents incredible opportunities to enable transforma- tion and improve the way the public service works to solve big challenges. This conversa- tion is around people and transforming orga- nizational culture to ultimately deliver better outcomes to the public.
