July/August 2018 // Canadian Government Executive / 9 INTERVIEW Recently, George Ross, CGE Editor in Chief, sat down with Dr. Joe Dragon , Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources for the Government of the Northwest Territories. Born and raised in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, and a member of Smith’s Landing First Nation, Dr. Dragon has had a diverse and interest- ing career. His background includes a PhD in wildlife ecology, a stint as a professional hockey player, time as a natural resource manager focused on sustainability, various roles with the Government of Canada, and now he’s come home to work with the Government of the Northwest Territories.
