General Sir James Everard
KCB, CBE, Former Deputy Supreme Allied Commander for NATO, and a former senior British Army Officer
James Everard commissioned in 1983, joining the 17th/21st Lancers in Germany on the Chieftain Main Battle Tank. Having commanded at every level - including the Queen’s Royal Lancers, 20th Armoured Brigade, 3rd (UK) Division and the UK Field Army - he ended his career in September 2020 as the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (and Operation Commander European Union Operation ALTHEA, Bosnia-in-Herzegovina). As a Major General he served as the Assistant Chief of the General Staff, and as a Lieutenant General as the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff (Military Strategy & Operations) based in the UK Ministry of Defence, London.
James Everard is President of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and took up the appointment of Lead Senior Mentor for NATO Allied Command Operations in January 2021. The Senior Mentors provide high-level coaching, advice and support to NATO Commanders, and assist decision-makers in unlocking and implementing solutions to current strategic and operational challenges, to ensure that Alliance forces remain as responsive, as resilient and as lethal as possible. He is committed to finding a sustainable solution to the digital skills challenge in Western militaries.

Michael retired in 2019 after a 38-year career as one of the key leaders of Canada’s world-class Federal public service, culminating in his appointment in 2016 as the 23rd Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to Cabinet. He is currently working with MNP as a Strategic Advisor Associate on their Ottawa Federal Government Consulting team and is a Fellow at Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration.

Prior to her appointment as CIO in July 2021, Catherine was the Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Air Canada, where she was responsible for the Information Technology systems that support and enable Air Canada’s global business. She additionally led innovation in the artificial intelligence space while managing the security and reliability of Air Canada’s worldwide systems in an operational landscape that substantially shifted during the global pandemic.
From 2001-2017, Catherine held senior management and executive roles at major Canadian companies, including Enbridge Inc., WestJet Airlines Ltd., and TELUS Communications.
Catherine holds an MBA from Athabasca University in Alberta and a BSc from the University of Alberta.

Isabelle Caron

Isabelle Caron is a Professor at the School of Public Administration at Dalhousie University. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on human resource management, diversity, intersectionality, control, performance and integrity in the public sector. From 1999 to 2012, she worked at the Privy Council Office, the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada, Health Canada and Canadian Heritage as a senior policy analyst.
Dr. Sherry Pictou

Dr. Sherry Pictou is a Mi’kmaw woman from L’sɨtkuk (water cuts through high rocks) known as Bear River First Nation, Nova Scotia. She worked as an Assistant Professor in the Women’s Studies Department at Mount Saint Vincent University with a focus on Indigenous Feminism (2017-2020). She is also a former Chief for her community and the former Co-Chair of the World Forum of Fisher Peoples. She is a member of the IPBES Task Force on Indigenous and Local Knowledge. Her research interests include decolonizing treaty relations, Social Justice for Indigenous Women, Indigenous women’s role in food and lifeways, and Indigenous knowledge and food systems.
Toby Fyfe

Toby is a seasoned senior executive with experience in both the public and not-for-profit sectors. He brings a practical understanding of complex organisations that serve a public purpose. As a federal government executive for 19 years, he led central agency and line department organizations, developing expertise in program design and implementation, corporate services and corporate communications. David J. Anderson
Digital / Chief Of Combat Systems Integration (CCSI)
Mr. David Anderson is a Consultant on Digital Transformation. He is a retired Brigadier-General who served in the CAF from 1980 to 2020, spanning 8 years as a reservist in the Canadian Grenadier Guards, and 32 years in Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Mr. Anderson commanded at every level in his regiment, and was the Commander of 1 CMBG from 2012-2014.
Staff postings of note include COS of the Army in the West, and from 2014-2016 he was the Chief of Defence Staff Liaison Office to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon in Washington DC. His operational experience includes deployment to Cyprus as a Duty Officer in the Joint Operations Center, Company Commander in Bosnia with the Royal Green Jackets, and on a second tour with 3 PPCLI. He was the Chief of Staff of Task Force Afghanistan in 2005-2006 in Kabul and Kandahar, and in 2016-2017, he deployed to Iraq as the Director of the Ministerial Liaison Team and as CJ7 of Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve. Upon his return from Iraq he was appointed Chief of Staff Readiness at the Canadian Joint Operations Command, and retired in 2020. As an EX-02 in the Public Service, in 2020/2021, Mr. Anderson held the position of Director Digital Transformation for the CAF, working for the Chief of Combat Systems Integration.
Mr. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Military Arts and Science from Royal Military College, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University in Washington DC.

Donald Tedrow
Security Architect – Unit 42, Palo Alto Networks
Don Tedrow, a security engineer at Unit 42, has more than 20 years of experience helping organizations assess and improve their security posture. Specializing in security auditing, assessment, compliance, security program development, and remediation, he is highly skilled in training information security teams on staying ahead of evolving threats and keeping their data and networks safe from attack.
Don joined the Unit 42 team in 2021 after two years as a core systems engineer with Palo Alto Networks. Prior to that, he was a security solutions architect for the cybersecurity company FireEye, where he engaged with the company’s clients to resolve complex security challenges and assist them in the set-up and configuration of security solutions. Previously, he was with Westinghouse Electric, where he was a principal engineer serving as technical lead for the company’s cyber security services group, advising on security challenges and developing product solutions for nuclear power plants. In that position, he developed a security program and provided training on implementing an information security program to major Japanese utility in the wake of the 2011 Fukashima disaster.
Before that, Don supported the security aspects of Respironics’ integration into Philips following its acquisition by the Dutch multinational. This work included managing security vulnerability scans, firewall changes, system hardening, and upgrades to wireless infrastructure encryption.
Earlier in his career, Don was a senior security analyst for the University of Pittsburgh and a technology risk management professional for the consulting firm Jefferson Wells.
Don received his bachelor’s degree in information technology, information assurance, and security from Capella University. His associate in specialized technology degree is from Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Core Impact Certified Professional (CICP). He has also earned GIAC certifications in Security Essentials (GSEC), Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM), Assessing and Auditing Wireless Networks (GAWN), and is a GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA), and Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP).

Michèle is the Director General of Partnerships and Risk Mitigation at the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security. The Partnerships and Risk Mitigation directorate is responsible for providing IT security advice, guidance and services to Canadian critical infrastructure organizations and for advancing collaborative relationships with private industry to strengthen cyber security practices in Canada.
Michèle previous roles include serving as the Executive Director of the Canadian Committee on National Security Systems (CCNSS) and External Compliance, Director of the Canadian Special Liaison Office in Washington DC in April 2015. Here, she represented the Communications Security Establishment as the Senior Canadian at the National Security Agency and US Cyber Command. She also represented CSE at the Embassy of Canada as an integral part of the Canadian Security & Intelligence Community abroad, and represented Canada’s cryptologic mission with the US Intelligence Community. She was also the Director, Architecture and Technology Assurance in the IT Security Branch at CSE, and prior to that she served as Director, Program Management in the Chief Information Officer Branch at CSE. Before that, she served for three years as Director, Governance Operations in the Government Operations Sector (GOS) of the Treasury Board Secretariat, and was preceded by five years of consulting work as an IT executive in the private sector. Michèle began her career as a logistics officer in the Canadian Forces, as an Air Transportation and Movements Specialist, and was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) in 1999.

Rina has over 20 years of experience in the Information Management (IM) / Information Technology (IT) field and currently leads an operational and strategic sector within IRCC of more than 1,000 staff, who specialize in and oversee the department’s transformation journey. This includes the IM/IT portfolio, overarching digital strategy, and development and management of digital transformation projects.
Her expertise in the IM/IT field is also ensuring stewardship of a department that is at the forefront of the Government of Canada’s digital transformation via work on cloud enablement, digital workspace solutions, incident management, IT security operations, and application development.
Throughout Rina’s career she has worked as an IT Executive leading IT enabled projects, managing data centers, and providing client facing digital solutions, which have allowed her to understand the importance of championing innovation. Ultimately, her work has shaped her views on maintaining a positive culture and remaining connected to what you are passionate about.
