The adoption of new technologies provides many opportunities, poses unique challenges and unlocks real threats.

To help us understand more about this and how we can keep a realistic view on such a topic, Canadian Government Executive through its TechGov Leadership Summit has dedicated a session at this event to “Implementing new technologies – opportunities, challenges, threats”.

This session is building on the theme of Digital Transformation and will feature presentations from Michael Gord and Ramy Sedra.

Michael Gord

Gord, the Founder & CEO, MLG Blockchain Consulting will discuss the history of innovation and the exponential nature of the second half of the chess board. This half we are about to reach with technology as Gord will explain. He will also give an overview on the convergence of several disruptive technologies like Blockchain, AI, IoT, Robotics, and Biology.

Ramy Sedra, who is the Data & Analytics Consulting Leader at PwC Canada will speak on AI demystified. Technology is embedding the human experience: thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.

“AI, shorthand for artificial intelligence, defines technologies emerging today that can understand, learn, and then act based on that information,” Sedra said. “Today, AI works in three ways: assisted intelligence; augmented intelligence and autonomous intelligence and we’re seeing it used via digital assistants, chatbots and machine learning.”

Ramy Sedra

But what does all this mean to the public sector? Sedra will answer that at TechGov 2018.

TechGov is a two-day event that is produced by Canadian Government Executive to help us understand more about Technology and Government and how it supports service delivery, people and innovation.
