In August 2013, Shared Services Canada (SSC) posted a notice on Public Works stating that it was looking for a supplier for an Enterprise Email Message Classification Software Solution (EEMCSS).

The request was part of SSC’s Email Transformation Initiative, a plan to get its more than 100 email servers across 43 departments and agencies consolidated under a single, government-wide email platform.

This week, SSC took the next step in meeting its objectives by selecting Titus, an Ottawa-based provider of email security and classification solutions, to support the initiative.

Titus’s solutions provide seamless integration with government email platforms, such as Outlook, and ensure that users can label emails according to internal and regulatory marking standards.

With Titus, SSC can not only consolidate its email servers, but also prevent or diminish the effect of data loss.

“This contract positions Titus products as the email classification standard for Shared Services Canada and its 44 federal department partners,” said Tim Upton, founder, president and CEO of Titus, in a statement. “Shared Services Canada chose Titus because of our product capabilities and demonstrated ability to partner with the Government of Canada, as well as other large organizations throughout the world, to ensure success in meeting their information security needs.”

A number of departments within the Canadian government already use Titus solutions, including the Treasury Board, the Department of Finance, Public Safety Canada, and the Department of National Defence.
