Quote of the week

“What are some major pieces of advice you could give a 20 year old?”

Editor’s Corner

Some of us can only dream of being 20 years old again and, I regret, I am one of them: I remember when Forrest Gump and The Lion King came out; the Euro Tunnel opened; and Jackie O died … all twenty long years ago.

Something else is 20 years old: Canadian Government Executive magazine. For over two decades, this modest publication has been providing public sector leaders, managers and officers with information and advice on management and policy issues of the day.

This magazine, its website www.canadiangovernmentexecutive.ca, and its social media tools are read and followed by public servants across Canada at the federal, provincial and municipal levels. Many readers have contributed articles celebrating their successes and best practices so that others can learn from their experiences.

Twenty years is a good time to take stock, to assess where we have been and – more important – to explore where we should be going.

We are thinking of making some changes to the publication in the New Year, but before we go too far down that road, we want to make sure that we reflect the needs of you, the reader.

So whether you are at the head of your organization, a front-line manager, a policy analyst, a new professional, or just an interested reader, I hope you will take the time to fill out this short online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7DT925M

It will be a valuable guide to us as we work to further improve Canadian Government Executive as it enters its 21st year.
