GTEC honoured the best in government information and communications technology Monday night in an awards ceremony at the Ottawa Convention Centre.

The annual Distinction awards, held on the eve of a three-day conference and trade show, recognized some of the most innovative solutions to service delivery, business transformation, inter-departmental collaboration, and IM/IT operations across all three levels of government.

Janice Charette, the new Clerk of the Privy Council, called the nominees “the essence of Blueprint 2020,” a federal public service reform initiative begun by her predecessor, Wayne Wouters, that she intendeds to advance. She said the winners and nominees represent the epitome of networked organizations, whole of government approaches, modern workplaces and high performing workforces.

To cultivate a culture of high performance, Charette said, “we need to celebrate our successes.”

Dave Adamson, deputy chief information officer with Treasury Board Secretariat, acknowledged the innovation of the projects and the breakthroughs many represent.

“At a time of unprecedented challenge, you have demonstrated there is unprecedented opportunity,” he said. “You have got momentum. Keep it and use it.”
