Southwestern Ontario has long been one of Canada’s most reliable engines of economic strength—a region where skilled trades, innovative technologies, and resilient businesses converge to create world-class products. Today, that legacy gains fresh momentum as the Government of Canada invests more than $5 million to help three local manufacturers scale up, modernize, and compete in a rapidly evolving global marketplace.
The announcement was made in Ingersoll, Ontario, where the Honourable Arielle Kayabaga, Deputy House Leader of the Government and Member of Parliament for London West, visited Hydra Dyne Technology Inc., a specialist in precision hydraulic components serving the defence, aerospace, and automotive sectors. Speaking on behalf of the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario, Kayabaga highlighted how strategic investments like these reinforce the region’s manufacturing strength and future readiness.
“Southwestern Ontario’s manufacturers are driving local innovation and helping build Canada’s economy. By investing in advanced technologies and automation, we are helping businesses like Hydra Dyne Technology, Future Transfer and Melnik Resources scale up, strengthen supply chains, and compete creating a resilient, sustainable economy for the future,” stated the Honourable Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario.
Automation, Scale, and Demand: Hydra Dyne’s Next Chapter
Hydra Dyne is set to receive $2 million to expand its operations and integrate advanced automation equipment into its production lines. By modernizing its manufacturing capabilities, the company will be better positioned to meet rising demand for hydraulic components used in essential heavy equipment across multiple industries. The upgrades will help reduce waste, increase efficiency, and reinforce local supply chains—ensuring more critical parts are sourced and built in Canada.
“This investment will accelerate our ability to innovate and expand, allowing us to enhance advanced manufacturing capabilities and deliver world-class hydraulic solutions to our customers. With this support, Hydra Dyne Technology is positioned to create new jobs, strengthen our supply chain, and contribute to the growth of southwestern Ontario,” said Haidar Chandu, General Manager, Hydra Dyne Technology Inc.
Strengthening Agri-Supply Chains with Future Transfer Co. Inc.
Just down the highway in Tillsonburg, Future Transfer Co. Inc.—a full-service logistics and materials handling provider—is receiving $2.5 million to build an end-to-end, Ontario-based crop protection supply chain. The investment will fund advanced automation and expanded on-site manufacturing capacity, enabling the company to serve global agri-chemical firms more efficiently. By reducing dependency on imports and improving domestic processing capabilities, Future Transfer is helping cement a more resilient agricultural supply chain for Canada.
“This project strengthens Ontario’s ag-chem supply chain by expanding local manufacturing capacity and advancing the use of automation and modern production technologies. With the help of FedDev Ontario’s investment, the project will support job creation, supply-chain resilience, and cleaner operations while helping ensure Canadian farmers have reliable access to domestically produced crop-protection products,” stated Chan Perera, President, Future Transfer Co. Inc.
Cutting-Edge Upgrades for Melnik Resources
In Mount Brydges, Melnik Resources will receive more than $530,000 for a facility modernization that includes new advanced systems and a laser cutter capable of highly customized precision work. These upgrades will sharpen the company’s competitive edge across audiovisual manufacturing and extend benefits to broader sectors such as food production and retail equipment fabricators.
“Melnik Resources is proud to receive this support to modernize our Mount Brydges facility, strengthening our capacity for continued growth in the audiovisual sector and across other manufacturing markets that demand high-performance metal solutions. This funding will enable the acquisition of advanced systems and equipment, including new laser cutter, significantly enhancing our overall capabilities and expanding our ability to deliver complex designs and highly customized projects,” expressed Howie Thompson, President, Melnik Resources.
A Regional Boost with National Impact
These three investments—delivered through FedDev Ontario—underscore the federal government’s commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing, boosting productivity, and supporting the creation of high-quality jobs. As global markets continue to shift, southwestern Ontario’s manufacturers are being equipped not only to keep pace, but to lead.
“Our region has a proud manufacturing legacy, and these investments help Hydra Dyne Technology, Future Transfer and Melnik Resources continue to innovate and strengthen supply chains. Together, we are taking action to help our companies thrive, create good jobs and to enable their resiliency and competitiveness,” expressed Arielle Kayabaga, Deputy House Leader of the Government and Member of Parliament for London West.
