Governments are faced with the huge task of making changes and transforming to meet the workforce challenges of a rapidly changing world, and this they have to do whether they’re ready or not.
The recent PwC Canadian workforce of the future survey takes a look at Canadian employees’ and employers’ perceptions of return-to-workplace plans and the digital workplace experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the show today, J. Richard Jones delves into this report by speaking with Owen Taylor, National Public Sector Leader, PwC Canada.
Owen brings over 30 years of experience working collaboratively and at all client levels with a wide variety of organizations, primarily in the public sector. His greatest achievements include helping organizations achieve their highest priority initiatives, transforming key areas of their business through change management, process improvement and technology enablement.
Based on the survey and insights gathered by PwC, Owen shares some of the major challenges that public sector has faced in the shift to online/remote work, how the nature of work has changed now that many are working remotely, the realities of COVID-19 on work, the flexible work of the future, the role of training, the need for digital skills, the effects of automation and artificial intelligence, and sectors of the economy that are strong and those that are particularly vulnerable in the wake of COVID-19.
