Canada’s commitment to enhancing relations with Mexico will be underscored by an official bilateral visit to Mexico City by two key members of the Canadian government. From August 5 to 6, 2025, the Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue, will meet with Mexican leadership to strengthen the partnership between the two nations.

The visit will feature high-level discussions between Minister Anand, Minister Champagne, and President Claudia Sheinbaum, alongside their respective counterparts, focusing on critical shared priorities. These include economic growth, security, and trade, all central to the future of Canada-Mexico relations. The visit also aims to pave the way for further dialogue in anticipation of Prime Minister Carney’s forthcoming trip to Mexico.

In a bid to bolster Canada’s economic ties with Mexico, both ministers will engage with a diverse group of business leaders from both countries. These meetings will involve prominent figures contributing to the growth of North America’s integrated economy, improving trade infrastructure, and ensuring robust supply chains across the continent.

Minister Anand will also take part in an important session with the Mexican Senate’s Committee for North America and Committee for Foreign Affairs. This joint meeting will deepen parliamentary ties between the two countries, further solidifying the growing collaboration at both the governmental and business levels.

This visit reflects Canada’s ongoing efforts to cultivate a more dynamic and forward-looking relationship with Mexico, ensuring continued cooperation across various sectors for years to come.
